Jed Lowrie Still Not Ready To Play In Games
5 years agoNew York Mets infielder Jed Lowrie is still not ready to appear in Grapefruit League games due to lingering left leg injuries. Although he is participating in drills, he is sporting a large brace on his left leg. There is no timeline to get Lowrie into games at this point. Lowrie missed nearly all of last season with left knee and hamstring injuries. In 2018 when he was last healthy, Lowrie hit .267 with 23 home runs and 99 RBI over the course of a full season. If he can finally overcome these injuries, Lowrie will function in a utility infielder role. With that said, it would take an injury to Jeff McNeil, Robinson Cano and/or Amed Rosario to guarantee consistent playing time for him in 2020. As such, Lowrie is nothing more than a late-round selection as bench depth in NL-only formats.
