3 years agoNew York Mets second baseman Jeff McNeil went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the Mets 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. Following the game, manager Luis Rojas indicated that once Francisco Lindor (oblique) returns from the injured list within the next few days, McNeil will see more time in left field. Rojas told reporters that the preference is to play Javier Baez at second base, J.D. Davis at third base, Lindor at shortstop, and McNeil in left field. This could potentially place McNeil in a dreaded timeshare with first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith in left field if Smith is not benched entirely. McNeil has had a rough campaign in 2021 batting just .247/.323/.362 with six home runs and 30 RBI over 86 games. Over his last seven games, McNeil has gone just 4-for-29 (.138) with one RBI, and an on-base percentage of .194. Fantasy managers should have McNeil on their benches until such time that he can put together a few games and show any signs of consistent production at the plate. Of course, if McNeil loses playing time once Lindor returns from the IL, managers in redraft formats should move on from the underperforming McNeil.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
