4 years agoNew York Mets infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil stated on Monday that he imagines a lot of his repetitions will come at second base in 2021. With Jonathan Villar now with the Mets after signing a one-year deal this offseason, Villar should see some time at second base as part of a super-utility role. Though Villar will get some time at second, it is unlikely to be at the expense of McNeil's playing time. Instead, the early expectation is that Villar will serve in a timeshare with third baseman/outfielder J.D. Davis, while McNeil remains a regular in the lineup, shifting between second and third base. McNeil will serve as a stable source of batting average with solid RBI and run production at the top of a stacked Mets lineup. His multi-position eligibility in the outfield, second base and third base further adds to his fantasy value for managers. That said, home run expectations for McNeil should be held in check given notable declines in his power metrics in 2020.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
