4 years agoNew York Mets infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil hit his first home run of the 2021 season on Thursday in dramatic fashion in the Mets' 3-2 win over the Marlins. McNeil, who had been 0-for-9 on the season, belted a game-tying solo home run off of Miami closer Anthony Bass in the bottom of the ninth inning. He finished the day 1-for-3, including the HR. Despite McNeil's slow start, it was only a matter of time before his bat started to get going. He had been frustratingly robbed of a few hard hits in the first two games of the season against the Philadelphia Phillies. Looking forward, McNeil should be a stable source of elite hitting with solid RBI and run production in the middle of a very strong Mets lineup in 2021. McNeil has been prone to hit homers in bunches, so managers should keep him active in all formats as he looks to build off of Thursday's performance.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
