4 years agoNew York Mets infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil, who is 0-for-7 through the first two games of the 2021 season, is not in the starting lineup for the Mets on Wednesday. McNeil will take a seat for the contest against the Phillies and Aaron Nola, giving way to second baseman Jonathan Villar. Manager Luis Rojas indicated before the game that everything is fine with McNeil. Rojas stated he simply wants to get Villar some playing time. Despite the slow start for McNeil, he will be a stable source of elite hitting with solid RBI and run production in the middle of a very strong Mets lineup in 2021. This move resonates as peculiar given the fact that the Mets have only played two games so far and are facing an elite pitcher in Nola, which would warrant they play their best bats. McNeil should be available off the bench on Wednesday, giving hope to fantasy managers who already have him active in weekly lineups.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
