5 years agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija was roughed up for five earned runs, eight hits and a walk over just four innings in a road loss on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins. He threw just 57 of his 89 pitches for strikes, including only 10 first-pitch strikes to the 21 batters he faced. It was a disappointing performance for Samardzija, who has lost three straight starts and is now winless in six consecutive outings. He has just one quality starts across his past eight outings, and even that resulted in a loss. Shark has a respectable 3.83 ERA nd 1.24 WHIP, but he doesn't go particularly deep into games, his defense lets him down most nights and he doesn't get a lot of offensive support, either.
