4 years agoSan Francisco Giants right-handed pitcher Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) was activated off of the injured list Friday and will start the second game of the doubleheader versus San Diego. Samardzija has not been on the mound since Aug. 7, having been hit hard in his three starts to the tune of a 9.88 ERA and 1.61 WHIP. In addition to likely having something of a pitch count, Samardzija will also be tasked with quelling a Padres offense that enters play Friday fourth in the Majors in OPS (.801), severely capping any fantasy intrigue that the veteran may have had. With a strong performance, he could be up for consideration to make a start in the postseason, should the Giants advance.--Jesse Borek
