Jeff Wilson Jr. The Favorite To Back Up Elijah Mitchell
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Jeff Wilson Jr. participated in only nine games last season, limiting his ability to make an impact. The 26-year-old returned in Week 9 and was productive in the four games he started, averaging 17 carries for 65 yards and 0.5 touchdowns. This included one blowup game in Week 14, featuring 21 rushing attempts for 110 yards and a touchdown. The fifth-year veteran is competing with rookie Tyrion Davis-Price and JaMycal Hasty to back up Elijah Mitchell. The 49ers backfield is known for generating fantasy points, but unfortunately it is often difficult to decipher where they'll come from. Mitchell struggled with injuries in 2021, playing in only 11 games, and he is currently dealing with a hamstring injury. Wilson is reportedly leading the trio thus far and would slot in as a top-24 option as the lead back if Mitchell were to go down.
