7 years agoAfter suffering a shoulder contusion last Friday, Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker has been out of the starting lineup and limited to a pinch-running role. However, on Monday he was cleared to swing a bat and took batting practice for the first time. There is no timetable for his return, but the fact he took batting practice Monday shows he could be close to getting back in the lineup. His 2018 season has not been spectacular, as he is just 9-for-36 to open the season, but Winker has a top-prospect pedigree and could get hot at any moment. If Winker is somehow on the waiver wire, now might be the time to pick him up.--Dan Fappiano
