Jeimer Candelario Demoted To Triple-A

5 years agoDetroit Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo Wednesday, club sources announced. The primary third baseman for Detroit since the end of the 2017 season, Candelario has struggled mightily at the dish this year, batting just .192 with two home runs on the year. No corresponding move has been announced as of yet, but Dawel Lugo seems like the most likely choice to join the club. Lugo is Detroit's No. 17 prospect and is currently batting .341 as the primary third baseman in Toledo. It's also not out of the question that we could see Ronny Rodriguez get some reps at third, as the hot-hitting infielder has played every other infield position at one point or another already this season.--Tyler Germain - RotoBaller
