Jerad Eickhoff Dominates Cardinals
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff was fantastic Wednesday afternoon, firing eight shutout innings in St. Louis. Eickhoff struck out four, gave up three hits and three walks while earning his second win of the season. He has now given up one run or fewer in all but one of his starts, and that start was in Colorado. While his 1.50 ERA is unsustainable, his sub-2.00 FIP suggests what he's done isn't all smoke and mirrors. He won't be a huge strikeout guy -- his career strikeout rate is only 21.9 -- but Eickhoff could be above-average in ERA and WHIP while having solid win potential pitching for a good team. He's worth a speculative add in most mixed leagues but may not be worth starting his next time out versus the Brewers.
