7 years agoWashington Nationals starter Jeremy Hellickson took a red-eye flight to be with his new team first thing Saturday morning. Upon arriving in Florida, he threw four simulated innings (60 pitches) and looks ready to go. Hellickson was signed to a minor league contract and given his major league experience, instantly becomes the front-runner to become the Nats fifth starter. He was terrible last season for the Phillies and Orioles but is only one year removed from a 3.71 ERA that saw him strike out 154 batters in 158 innings over 32 starts for Philadelphia. He's the front-runner for the role and given how powerful the Nationals lineup is, becomes somewhat valuable in leagues that count wins. He's a late-round gamble worth taking.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
