7 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson could make his first start for the ball club on Monday against the Mets in Queens. The team officially changed their Monday starter from A.J. Cole to TBA on Sunday. Cole had done well in his second start, going 5 1/13 innings and giving up two runs on three hits while striking out four and walking three. However, the team is in a bit of a free fall, record-wise, and Hellickson is a veteran with career 4.51 FIP and 1.252 WHIP. He was not very good when he was with the Phillies and Orioles last season, but the 2018 Nationals would gladly welcome Hellickson's 2016 numbers (3.98 FIP, 1.153 WHIP, 154 K in 189 innings) from their fifth starter. Deep league players, especially those in leagues that count wins, should take a flyer on Hellickson.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
