5 years agoWashington Redskins tight end Jeremy Sprinkle will start against the Patriots by process of elimination for Week 5. Jordan Reed has been ruled out for the fifth straight game to start the year, and Vernon Davis will miss this contest as well. This injury-forced promotion couldn't have come at a worse time for Sprinkle, as he draws an incredibly difficult matchup in the New England Patriots. New England has held opposing tight ends to nine total catches in four games, and gave up its first offensive touchdown of the season last week. Further detracting from Sprinkle's outlook is that the offense around him is just downright bad. Even the emergency targets he might see from Colt McCoy on Sunday aren't enough to qualify Sprinkle for fantasy consideration.--Chris O'Reilly
