4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo lasted only three innings in a home start against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. Platinum glove winner Matt Chapman made an uncharacteristic error which led to three unearned runs, but Luzardo was not sharp in this outing. The 23-year-old finished the day allowing six runs (three ER), on five hits and two walks with only one strikeout. Luzardo was a borderline top-100 pick in fantasy drafts, but is simply not getting it done this season. Despite some ugly numbers like his 5.79 ERA, Luzardo is still generating a solid swinging-strike rate and has an xERA of just 3.78. His upside is too high to drop him, but it's hard to trust the lefty in lineups right now. He'll face a challenging Blue Jays lineup at home in his next start.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
