3 years agoOakland Athletics pitcher Jesus Luzardo was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, according to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos. Right-handed reliever Domingo Acevedo was called up to take Luzardo's place in the A's bullpen. Luzardo is an elite pitching prospect, but he has been ineffective out of the bullpen this season. In 13 games (six starts), Luzardo is 2-4 with a 6.87 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. He's allowed at least one run in five straight relief appearances so perhaps a trip to the minors could help Luzardo regain the confidence that made him a top prospect in the first place.
