2 years agoMiami Marlins starter Jesus Luzardo was excellent on Sunday in his most recent start against the Chicago Cubs. Luzardo struck out six in seven shutout innings, giving up just a hit and a walk. The 24-year-old left-hander generated 12 swinging strikes on 91 pitches against Chicago and finished with a 26% CSW rate. Of the 17 balls put in play by Cubs hitters, just five had an exit velocity north of 92 MPH. Through eight starts and 41 innings this season Luzardo now owns a 3.29 ERA and a 3.09 FIP, not to mention 52 strikeouts compared to just 17 walks allowed.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller
