Jets Firing John Morton
7 years agoThe New York Jets will not retain offensive coordinator John Morton for the 2018 season. There has been consideration given to elevating quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates to offensive coordinator, but sources say it's not a done deal. The Jets offense surprised many in 2017, from the emergence of wideout Robby Anderson to the surprising play of journeyman quarterback Josh McCown. However, the Jets want to go in another direction, and Morton lasts just one season in New York. Whoever will coordinate the offense next may be stuck with McCown for one more season until the Jets can find a capable long-term quarterback to work into the mix.
