Jets, Le'Veon Bell Agree On Four-Year Deal
6 years agoFree-agent running back Le'Veon Bell (Steelers) and the New York Jets have agreed to terms on a four-year deal worth $52.5 million on Tuesday, a source said. Bell has been a workhorse over his career, amassing 5,336 rushing yards with 35 touchdowns over the ground over 62 NFL games in five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has averaged 4.3 yards per carry, and gives the New York run game a huge shot in the arm, perhaps their biggest star in the backfield since Curtis Martin. The Jets bolstered their offensive line a bit with the addition of Kevin Zeitler in a trade, but Bell won't have the luxury of as dynamic of a pass attack as he had in Pittsburgh. Still, he improves the pass game with his solid hands out of the backfield. He'll once again be a decent early-round fantasy pick on draft day now that the black cloud of contract impasse in Pittsburgh is in the rear-view mirror.
