4 years agoNew York Jets kicker Sergio Castillo essentially had the writing on the wall for his future with the organization when Chase McLaughlin was claimed off of waivers from the Jaguars on Monday. It was confirmed Tuesday that the Jets would be releasing Castillo just two days after he missed three straight field-goal attempts during a loss to the Seahawks. On the season, Castillo has gone 8-for-13 on FGs, while going 6-for-7 on extra-point tries. His release paves the way for McLaughlin to take over kicking duties on a full-time basis -- beginning in Week 15 against the Rams -- but the overall lack of efficiency from the Jets' offense makes him an avoidable season-long commodity.--Jesse Borek
