4 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two in the Mets 4-2 loss to Boston on Thursday. He has now held the opposition scoreless in three of his four outings in 2020. Familia has looked much better than he did in 2019 when he posted a brutal 5.70 ERA, a 1.73 WHIP and 63 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched. Owners may want to keep an eye on Familia to see if he continues shows signs of a bounce-back, particularly after another poor Edwin Diaz outing on Thursday. With the Mets stating that they plan to discuss Diaz's role in the team's bullpen going forward, Familia may be in line for some save opportunities. Although Seth Lugo would likely be the first to get a shot at closing, Lugo cannot pitch on consecutive days opening the door for a committee which would also include Familia and Dellin Betances. The once top closer could return solid numbers in holds, K's, ERA, and WHIP, with some saves mixed in, at a bargain-basement FAAB price tag.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
