6 years agoNew York Mets closer Jeurys Familia pitched the eighth inning in a win over the Atlanta Braves on May 30, leading to much speculation he would be doing so moving forward. With the Mets and Baltimore Orioles scoreless on Wednesday, he did so again, and the results were not good. Familia allowed one run on two hits, surrendering the only run of the game and taking the 1-0 loss. Familia typically struggles a bit more when in non-save situations, so we wouldn’t treat this as concerning. He still owns a 2.48 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 29 innings pitched this season.--John Smith
