Ji-Man Choi Has Loose Bodies Removed From Knee
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi had loose bodies removed from his knee when he underwent arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday, according to beat writer Marc Topkin. He also had his meniscus "debrided," which means it was cleaned up. Topkin added that the team hopes he can start playing games in four to five weeks. Choi had been dealing with tightness and soreness in his knee throughout camp before the team shut him down earlier in March. Yoshi Tsutsugo and Yandy Diaz will likely split time at first base for as long as Choi is sidelined, which could be until mid-May. Diaz is the more reliable fantasy option, especially in OBP leagues, as he slashed .307/.428/.386 with a 17:23 K/BB ratio over 114 at-bats in 2020. He also hit .324 with a .981 OPS (37 at-bats) this spring.
