Jimmie Johnson On The Pole For Sunday's Race
6 years agoHendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson captured the pole on Friday for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 from Texas Motor Speedway. He turned in a best speed of 188.890 mph for his first pole of the season. Johnson is looking to snap a career-worst 65-race winless drought, and Texas could be a favorable place to do it. He has seven career wins to lead all drivers, while posting 15 top-fives and 21 top-10s in 31 career starts with 1,052 laps led and a 9.8 average-finish position. He will start ahead of William Byron and Chase Elliott, as Hendrick Chevys go off 1-2-3 on Sunday.
