2 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers are hoping that a trade opportunity materializes for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) now that they are officially all-in on Trey Lance in 2022 and beyond. If the team can't trade Garoppolo, they will absolutely cut him before Week 1, when his $24.2 million salary would become fully guaranteed as termination pay under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. As a result, the 49ers will keep him out of practice and preseason games to ensure he won't get injured. The Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks make the most sense for Jimmy G, but they may not be motivated to trade for him unless they suffer an injury at the position.
