2 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers have excused quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) from their mandatory minicamp this week, according to sources. Garoppolo continues to rehab from right shoulder surgery away from the team's facilities as they explore trade options. The 30-year-old is expected to resume throwing this month, at which point interested teams might become a bit more serious about trading for the veteran signal-caller. There have been conflicting reports about whether the Niners think second-year quarterback Trey Lance is ready to take over starting duties in 2022, so we could have a bit of a QB controversy in San Francisco if Jimmy G sticks around.
