3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) is not in his practice attire during the portion of practice open to the media on Thursday and is off to the side talking to a team doctor. It looks like Garoppolo will miss his second practice of the week due to a Grade 3 sprain of his right thumb, and he's not on the right track to play in Week 17 against the Houston Texans. He still has one more day to get back on the practice field, but if he does and plays on Sunday, he'll be an even shakier QB2 for fantasy managers in a game the Niners could easily win by relying more on the ground attack. If Jimmy G doesn't play, rookie Trey Lance would make his second career start. The raw rookie has more upside than Garoppolo, but the 21-year-old hasn't seen the field since Week 11, and it's unlikely the 49ers would ask him to do too much.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
