3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (thumb) is officially listed as questionable to play in Week 18 against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Garoppolo was able to practice on a limited basis all week, which puts him on the right side of questionable entering this must-win game for the Niners. The 30-year-old sat out in Week 17 with a Grade 3 sprain of the UCL in his right thumb, but he's trending toward playing over rookie Trey Lance this weekend. Lance may have more fantasy upside because of his rushing ability, but the 49ers have more confidence in the more experienced Garoppolo with everything on the line for a playoff berth. If Garoppolo starts, he could be in store for a lot of short checkdowns and intermediate throws, making him a low-end QB2 against a tough Rams defense.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
