6 years agoDetroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard and forward Andreas Athanasiou were the stars of the show at the Madison Square Garden against the Rangers on Tuesday night, guiding the team to a 3-2 victory. Howard, who wasn't beaten until the 14:46 mark in the third, finished with 41 saves and a .953 save percentage to improve his record for the season to 19-20-5. Athanasiou recorded his second consecutive two-goal game, notching the game-winning goal inside the final minute. Frans Nielsen also scored for the Wings, who have won only three of their last 15 games.
