4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Joakim Soria blew the save opportunity and earned the loss on Saturday, in an 8-7 defeat to the Angels. Soria allowed three runs on four hits over one inning of work, as he allowed four of the first five batters he faced to reach base. It was Soria's first save opportunity of the season, as he now owns a 0-3 record and 6.00 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 15 innings this year. Stefan Crichton can technically be considered the closer in Arizona as he leads the team with four saves, however he entered Saturday's contest to pitch in the seventh inning. Bottom line, Arizona's closer situation should be avoided in all formats, not just for the inconsistency and lack of a defined closer, but also because they have the second-fewest save opportunities in the majors this year with 18 — ahead of only Pittsburgh's 11 save opportunities.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
