Joc Pederson Absent For Second Straight Game
4 years agoThe Chicago Cubs have left outfielder Joc Pederson off of the lineup card for the second straight day on Tuesday versus the Washington Nationals. Pederson came to the Cubs in the offseason to be able to play against lefties, but has now been out twice in as many days versus them. It's curious timing by manager David Ross with Pederson swinging a scorching hot bat and being in the lineup for most games against left-handed pitching this season. Utility man Matt Duffy will be in left field on Tuesday with second baseman David Bote replacing him in the lineup and starting at third base. Bote will bat seventh versus Patrick Corbin. Pederson has been hitting .400 over the last two weeks with five RBI and no home runs. Pederson has had a hot bat and the power should eventually come alive for the slugger. Pederson should be expected to return to the lineup on Wednesday versus right-hander Max Scherzer.
