Joc Pederson And Jason Heyward Benched For Second Straight Day
4 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson will be out of the starting lineup on Thursday versus the New York Mets. Pederson has been off to an awful start with his new team and is hitting a weak .137 with one home run and four RBI. Pederson came to the Cubs with the opportunity to play against left-handed pitchers, but with that and his current slump, manager David Ross has decided let him sit his second consecutive game with lefty Joey Lucchesi on the hill. Pederson will be replaced in the lineup by Jake Marisnick for the second day in a row. Marisnick will bat eighth and is 4-for-20 on the season. Outfielder Jason Heyward will also rest on Wednesday and be replaced in the lineup by infielder Matt Duffy. Duffy had a big game on Wednesday and went 2-for-4 with four RBI. He will bat sixth on Thursday. Pederson and Heyward should be expected back in the lineup on Friday, but neither has stated a strong case to be rostered at the moment.
