2 years agoTexas Rangers right-handed pitcher Joe Barlow has been removed from the closer's role, according to manager Chris Woodward. Barlow was terrific early in the season but has fallen off lately, posting a 5.73 ERA and four blown saves since the beginning of June. It seems to be a bit of a short leash given to Barlow, but that was to be expected with his lack of closing experience and Woodward openly wanting someone to step up and take his job during spring training. Expect the Rangers to go by committee until someone steps up, with Dennis Santana potentially being the favored option.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller
