Joe Kelly Tagged With Eight-Game Suspension

4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-handed reliever Joe Kelly has been handed down an eight-game suspension stemming from an incident during Tuesday's contest against the Houston Astros. Kelly denied that he had intentionally thrown pitches at Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa of the Astros, in addition to having gotten into a verbal altercation with Correa following his appearance that led to both benches clearing. In the shortened 2020 season, the eight-game suspension is immense, leveling the Dodgers bullpen even further. Without Clayton Kershaw (back), David Price (opt out), and Alex Wood (elbow) available in the starting rotation, the Dodgers will be scraping together outs for the foreseeable future. Kelly plans to appeal the suspension.--Jesse Borek
