Joe Mauer Drives In Four Runs On Friday
6 years agoMinnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer went 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run homer in his team's 11-8 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. With two runners on in the third inning, the veteran smoked a pitch from Tampa Bay starter Nathan Eovaldi over the fence in the for his third home run of the season. On the year, Mauer is now batting .278 with a .736 OPS, 29 runs, and 27 RBI. He's been red-hot at the plate over the past week, batting .448. He is worth riding while he's hot but don't count on the power hitting to continue. He will take on Rays right-hander Chris Archer on Saturday, against whom he has a .211 batting average in 19 at-bats.
