Joe Mixon Receives Good News
5 years agoUpdating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (ankle) had MRI results come back negative Monday, according to a source. He might have a shot to play in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers, but no extended absence is expected. Mixon is probably 50-50 to play next week. Running back Giovani Bernard rushed seven times for 21 yards and caught two balls for 42 yards in Week 1. The 49ers allowed opposing backs to rush for 108 yards on 21 rushes in Week 1, and they caught seven balls for 63 yards against them. Bernard should be treated as a low-end RB2 in the event Mixon can't go. If Mixon is able to go, he should be started, even if he's on a pitch count.
