3 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove proved himself mortal on Thursday by allowing a season-high six earned runs in his club's 6-2 loss to the Phillies. The right-hander cruised through the first five innings by retiring 12 consecutive batters at one point, but was ultimately undone by a Kyle Schwarber two-run homer and a J.T. Realmuto three-run shot in the sixth inning. It was the first time all year that Musgrove allowed more than two earned runs in a start as he finished the contest with seven hits allowed and a 1/1 K/BB through six complete frames. The 29-year-old still owns an outstanding 2.12 ERA and 0.95 WHIP as he'll look to bounce back in a matchup versus the rival Dodgers on the road next week.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
