7 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates placed right-hander Joe Musgrove (shoulder) on the 10-day disabled list on Monday. The team recalled right-hander Clay Holmes to fill the vacant roster spot. The move is retroactive to March 30, meaning Musgrove can return on April 9. Just one day prior, the Pirates announced Musgrove as their starter for Thursday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. He pitched in a minor league game on Saturday in which he threw six innings and 92 pitches. It's not clear whether he aggravated the shoulder discomfort he experienced in spring training or the team simply decided to push his return back. For now, it's unclear who will take his spot in the rotation, but Steven Brault and Tyler Glasnow are the most likely candidates.--Matt Wilkes
