4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Joe Musgrove initially had his weekend start pushed back, but Tuesday, manager Derek Shelton announced that the right-hander would need a stint on the injured list due to inflammation in his right triceps. With Musgrove unavailable, righty Trevor Williams has been bumped up to start Thursday’s contest against Cincinnati. Musgrove was projected to be the ace of the Bucs’ staff with Chris Archer and Jameson Taillon unavailable in 2020, but he got off to an 0-3 start with a 6.75 ERA, allowing four home runs in 14 ⅔ frames. He remains the most relevant Pittsburgh starter in season-long formats, although there’s little reason to burn a roster spot while he does his time on the IL. He’ll be a name to target off the waiver wire when he is cleared to take the mound again, though.--Jesse Borek
