Joe Musgrove Snatches Rain-Shortened Victory
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Joe Musgrove surrendered five earned runs in four innings Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds but was granted a victory in a rain-shortened contest. The right-hander was knocked around for four hits and three walks including four earned runs in the first frame while striking out three. In a normal length contest, the outing would've been a forgettable fantasy performance, but the win is a fortuitous salve. Musgrove still holds a marvelous 2.63 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 30 percent strikeout rate over 89 innings. He'll face the Washington Nationals at home next Monday to kick off a two-start week ahead of the All-Star break.
