Joe Musgrove Strikes Out Eight In No-Decision
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove had a strong outing on Saturday by striking out eight in the club's 5-2 win over the Diamondbacks. The right-hander didn't walk a batter and allowed two runs on five hits over six innings of work, throwing 53 of his 74 pitches for strikes. Both runs he surrendered came off the bat of David Peralta who had a run-scoring double in the first and a solo homer in the sixth, but the Padres offense showed up a little late so Musgrove was left with a no-decision in this one. The 29-year-old had a career year in 2021 and is starting off this campaign on the same trajectory with this sharp outing. However, he'll face a much tougher lineup the next time he toes the rubber when the Braves come to town next weekend.
