Joe Musgrove Throws Another Bullpen Session
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove (shoulder) is slowly getting closer to seeing game action. The Pirates right-hander has not yet appeared in a spring training contest due to shoulder discomfort, but the issue is minor. Musgrove threw an extended bullpen session on Friday, as reported by the Post-Gazette's Bill Brink, meaning he's one step closer to seeing on-field action. The 25-year-old was acquired from the Houston Astros in January as a part of the Gerrit Cole trade, and he's expected to compete with Tyler Glasnow and Steven Brault for the fifth spot in the Pirates starting rotation. With an uncertain role, Musgrove should be nothing more than a late-round flier in deeper fantasy leagues right now.
