Joe Panik Kicks Off His Spring With Strong Performance
6 years agoSan Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and a pair of singles in his Cactus League spring debut against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. He made changes to his stance during the offseason, including a load shift during the winter at the suggestion of hitting coach Alonzo Powell and assistant hitting coach Rick Schu. So far, so good. Panik slipped to .254 in 2018 after hitting .288 in 2017, and his power was way down, too. The good news is that he doesn't strike out much, and he could be a nice value in the later rounds on Draft Day after a disappointing season. If he gets back to his 2017 production, he could be a boon to fantasy owners in NL-only play.
