3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan struggled in Thursday's no-decision against the Tigers. Ryan allowed six runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings of work. He struck out five batters while issuing a pair of walks. Ryan's overall line was ugly, but the underlying numbers suggest perhaps he was a bit unlucky, as the Tigers mustered just a 79.7 MPH average exit velocity against him. The rookie starter has pitched to a 4.05 ERA with 30 strikeouts and five walks in 26 2/3 innings. Ryan certainly seems to have earned himself a spot in the rotation for 2022, making him a name to watch in the upcoming offseason.--Tim Capurso
