Instead, the contract breaks down to $5.25 million a year for the 24-year-old center. He had the best season of his career in 2020-21, posting 19 goals and 11 assists in 56 regular-season games. Minnesota had an early playoff exit after losing in seven games to the Vegas Golden Knights.
