Joey Gallo Making Dodgers Debut Thursday
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Joey Gallo is making his debut with the team on Thursday against San Francisco Giants right-hander Jakob Junis, starting in left field and hitting sixth in the batting order. Gallo was dealt from the New York Yankees to the Dodgers at the trade deadline on Tuesday, but he didn't get the starting nod on Wednesday. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger was a disaster in his second season with the Yanks this year, hitting an embarrassing .159/.282/.339 with 12 home runs, 24 RBI, 32 runs scored and two stolen bases in 82 games. The Dodgers are hoping they can help him turn things around at the plate. Nobody is debating that Gallo still has prodigious power, but he'll need to make more consistent contact in order to be useful in the second half of the season with his new team.
