Joey Gallo Not Concerned About Groin Injury
3 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Joey Gallo (groin) is "not concerned at all" about the groin issue that caused him to leave Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals. He left Saturday's contest early with left groin tightness. "I'm not concerned at all," Gallo said, adding that he left the game "just as a precaution." "We'll see how he's doing Sunday morning," said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. "I think we'll know a lot more in the morning." The 28-year-old underwent additional testing, but nothing was mentioned about the results. "I think I'll be fine," Gallo said. "I'll be ready to go (Sunday) if the team needs me. I wanted to keep playing (Saturday), but the smart move was not to make it worse." Gallo is day-to-day for now, but fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation and check back on Sunday to see if the Yankees outfielder is in the starting lineup. Tim Locastro replaced Gallo in the game and would see an uptick in playing time while Gallo is sidelined. Locastro can be used as a streamer in deep-league formats for Sunday's slate if Gallo is out of the lineup.
