3 years agoThe MLB Players Association agreed to allow the league to ban shifts, implement a pitch clock and make bases larger in 2023, subject to those agreements fitting into a new collective bargaining agreement. New York Yankees first baseman/outfielder Joey Gallo, Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows, free-agent first baseman Anthony Rizzo and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper, based on Baseball Savant spray charts, stand to benefit the most once shifts are officially outlawed. Gallo faced shifts in 95% of his total plate appearances last year, which was more than anybody in the league. For his career, the lefty pull hitter has pulled 39% of the balls he hits, with just 13.4% of his batted balls going to the opposite field -- league average is 18.6%.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
