Joey Lucchesi Gets Nod Against D-Backs On Monday

4 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Joey Lucchesi will start the series finale Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Lucchesi had a shaky camp as he battled for a rotation spot but showed enough to earn the No. 4 spot. The 27-year-old has been a workhorse for the Padres since his 2018 debut, posting a 4.14 ERA and 9.3 K/9 across 293 2/3 career innings. Lucchesi has struggled the third time through lineups and with deeper bullpens, he’ll likely have a short leash. He’s worth a fantasy stream for managers fishing for strikeouts. If Lucchesi falters as a starter, pitcher Cal Quantrill is the logical replacement.
