Joey Lucchesi Shuts Down Brew Crew
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Joey Lucchesi held the Milwaukee Brewers scoreless for seven strong innings in a victory Monday. The southpaw yielded three knocks and three walks while striking out five in the combined-shutout effort with the bullpen. Through 14 starts this season, the Friars de facto ace sits with a 3.74 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 8.8 K/9. While endurance has been an issue for the 26-year-old second-year player, he’s collected five quality starts in his last six outings. With the Brewers out of the way, Lucchesi will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in PNC Field to wrap up a two-start week.
